SONNET OF LIMERENCE

Obscured, Cupid as a brimming stream,

To drench whilst thou hast bathed.

Transformed he into an adornment,

And hath entwined thy abdomen.

Disguised as a maid within thy harem,

To admire thy ravishing beauty.

Art thou the giver of flowers’ aroma?

For sure, when thou dost blush, I feel it.

Insanely chisels he thy name

Upon his love-shaft.

Beneath the sea, scribeth he bewitching songs

That testament his lunatic love for thee.

Why makest thou virile men fanatic?

Cupid, ensconce her from this tranquil earth.
